Deodato Essentials

A prolific arranger, composer and producer, Eumir Deodato was perhaps best known for his dance-oriented rendition of a Richard Strauss tone poem, which led to a brief period of stardom. He began his career in his native Brazil as a teenager, and headed to the U.S. in '67 to apply his talents there. Deodato became an in-demand behind-the-scenes figure for acts ranging from Frank Sinatra to Earth, Wind & Fire. His '73 album, Prelude, spawned a GRAMMY®-winning hit, but he was unable to repeat his success with subsequent releases, and soon returned to arranging for other artists.
