These synth-poppers made an immediate splash with their 1985 debut album Hunting High and Low—and their worldwide No. 1 hit “Take On Me”, which was helped along by an innovative animated video. Melding frontman Morten Harket's good looks and soaring vocals with emotional New Wave and big hooks, they were slightly left-field but always pop-savvy. Their three ‘80s albums spawned hits like “The Sun Always Shines on TV”, while their James Bond theme “The Living Daylights” is still a huge fan favourite. After a slower ‘90s, a-ha enjoyed a comeback in 2000 with the hit “Summer Moved On”.
