Primarily known as a guitarist and vocalist for Drive-By Truckers, Mike Cooley shares songwriting duties with Patterson Hood in this mid-'90s-formed, Athens, Georgia act who blend southern rock and Americana. Cooley contributed six songs to their career highlight, 2014's English Oceans and by the end of 2020, he'd clocked up 13 studio albums with them as they garnered a reputation as a raucous, hard-working live act. Along the way, Cooley issued a pared-back, solo, live acoustic set, 2012's The Fool on Every Corner and 2021 saw the release of Live at The Shoals Theatre, June 15th, 2014 which billed Cooley alongside Hood, and former Drive By Trucker-turned-solo artist, Jason Isbell.
