Letty & Georgia

About Letty & Georgia

Letty & Georgia are a high-energy country duo from Rising Fawn, GA, whose music lies in the gray area somewhere between rock, country, bluegrass, and folk, akin to their influences Emmylou Harris and Bonnie Raitt. Their early successes led to opening slots for Doc Watson, Sawyer Brown, the Kentucky Headhunters, David Wilcox, BR549, Sam Bush, Jo Dee Messina, and Don McLean. Relying on a combination of old-fashioned honesty and contemporary slickness, Letty Stoneman and Georgianne George sing with bright harmonies, accompanied by their full band (the Cowboy Angels, composed of Bobby Steele on bass and Ashley Smith on drums) or often with just their acoustic guitars. Their 1997 self-titled first album was described by Chattanooga Times as "pure, unadulterated country" and was well received by both public radio and several commercial radio outlets. In 2000, Letty & Georgia released the follow-up CD 8 Second Ride. ~ Zac Johnson
