Jerry

Punjabi singer, lyricist and composer Jerry is not easily pigeonholed. The artist, born in Ludhiana in 1999, is as comfortable rapping on self-penned hip-hop records as he is crafting singles that not only reflect R&B, pop, trap and even jazz influences but also highlight his charismatic vocals and relatable lyrics. Since 2020’s bass-heavy, folk-tinged belter “Shareeke-Baazi”—which featured celebrated singer-songwriter Singga—Jerry’s star has been rising. He released his first handful of singles that same year, each placing him at the junction of hip-hop and Punjabi pop, before 2021 proved to be his breakthrough year, particularly with “Casanova”: a smooth-rolling ballad built around a honeyed folk hook. It was followed by emotionally packed viral hit “Mainu Nai Pehchaandi” and the silky “She’s The One”, both collabs with producer Devilo, as well as his first album Stepping In, a record that channels Dr. Dre and the West Coast sound. In 2022 and 2023, Jerry showed an ever-growing desire to explore the more heartfelt and grittier corners of the Punjabi scene with singles that varied in depth and style, including hip-hop super-hit “Showstopper”.
