About Jan Bjøranger

Jan Bjøranger is a Norwegian violinist and conductor. He founded the string group Ensemble Bjergstaed 1 (also known as 1B1) in Stavanger in 2008, and is its artistic director. He has performed as a concerto soloist and conducted many orchestras, including the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Danish National Chamber Orchestra, the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, the Västerås Sinfonietta, Camerata Nordica, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Trondheim Soloists, and Camerata Salzburg, among others. An avid chamber musician, Bjøranger has performed recitals across Europe and collaborated with Janine Jansen, Göran Söllscher, Dan Laurin, Peter Jablonski, Per Tengstrand, Enrico Pace, and Lars Anders Tomter. Bjøranger is a professor of music at the University of Stavanger, where he is head of the string department, and he gives lectures and master classes in Norway and in other countries.
