About Henry Jackman

A musical prodigy, Henry Jackman composed his first symphony at age six. ∙ Influenced by Britain’s underground rave scene, Jackman began experimenting with electronic programming while in his teens, earning his first high-profile credit on Mike Oldfield’s 1996 album, Voyager. ∙ His work on Art of Noise’s “Born on a Sunday” brought him to the attention of Seal, who put him up in his spare bedroom during the year and a half that they collaborated on Togetherland. ∙ Jackman transitioned to film scoring at the encouragement of Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer, who told him that “the record industry is a complete waste of time.” ∙ Jackman has provided synthesizer programming and additional music to several Hans Zimmer film scores, including The Da Vinci Code and The Dark Knight. ∙ Jackman has composed scores for several Hollywood blockbusters, including Puss in Boots, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America: Civil War, and Big Hero 6. ∙ While composing film music for Wreck-It Ralph, Jackman studied popular arcade games from several different decades to incorporate their sounds into his score.
