Cymbals Eat Guitars

About Cymbals Eat Guitars

A near overnight sensation, Cymbals Eat Guitars were formed by singer/guitarist Joseph D'Agostino while still in high school in 2008. By the following year, the New York band was the rage of college radio. With a sound that funneled off-kilter 1990s indie rock of the K Records variety (think early Built to Spill) through a 2000s emo-pop filter, Cymbals Eat Guitars attracted fans of both the nostalgic and the cutting edge with their 2009 debut, Why There Are Mountains. D'Agostino led his group through several lineup changes over subsequent albums, in the process working with high-profile indie producers such as John Agnello and John Congleton. ~ Jason Thurston & Marcy Donelson
