MUEVENSE

MUEVENSE

The title of Marc Anthony’s latest album more or less speaks for itself. The tropical rhythms of MUEVENSE compel listeners to dance, while the lyrical contents seek to inspire a more emotional sort of movement. Much like he did with the preceding Pa’lla Voy, the indomitable salsa star concisely and effectively emphasises his strengths as a genre veteran with these 10 tracks. The opening title track and the previously released single “Punta Cana” set the tone for what comes next, all of which is sure to captivate his long-standing audience. Romantic themes naturally prevail here, whether he’s wrestling the sadness of “Amarte a la Antigua” or urging towards the more hopeful promise of “Pasemos a los Besos”. By contrast, “Ale Ale” shifts the focus from matters of the heart to matters of national pride, while the Pepe Aguilar team-up “Ojalá Te Duela” shakes things up by transitioning into a música mexicana mode.
