K-pop’s cyperpunk princesses return with their fourth mini album, Drama, a seven-track EP that deepens the lore of their metaverse concept and sees the four-member SM Entertainment girl group stretching beyond their signature EDM-tinged electro-pop sound. Drama includes previously released English-language earworm “Better Things”. The low-key dance track is not as vigorous as their prior fare, trading in the bombast for summertime vibes without sacrificing aespa’s girl-power themes: “No, I'm sorry, I ain't sorry/aespa, big girls making money.” Elsewhere on the album, Giselle, Karina, Ningning and Winter recommit to their futuristic “girl crush” concept in lead single “Drama”, a synthy hip-hop banger about the confidence that comes with being aespa.
