Mr.Rain Essentials

If Mattia Balardi’s stage name doesn’t point to his rap style, its origins do: he adopted the Mr.Rain moniker because he writes on rainy days. Influenced by Eminem at his cinematic peak, the self-taught rapper-producer also prefers the melancholic and grandiose. His beats buffet against classical piano as the bedrock for his flow, with orchestral flourishes at the most melodramatic moments. Smash hit “Carillon” helped fix his place in the Italian hip-hop scene, while the film score-esque duology of “9.3” and “Fiori di Chernobyl” displays a level of ambition that leaves a lasting impression.
