About The Scene

The brainchild of Holland's answer to John Cale, the Lau, ever-changing Amsterdam collective the Scene have been on the fringes of the European indie scene since the late '70s. Despite their earlier half-Dutch/half-English output, they first found fame in neighboring Belgium with '90s albums Blauw and Open, after which they eventually settled on the more permanent line-up of guitarist Emilie Blom Van Assendelft, keyboardist Otto Cooymans, and drummer Jeroen Booy. Following a five-year hiatus, the band reunited in 2007 and, in 2012, released Code, their first studio album in 11 years. ~ Jon O'Brien
