About Andy Hamilton

Andy Hamilton spent 50 years teaching and playing his form of calypso and traditional jazz in Birmingham, England. His debut album, Silvershine, was released in 1992 when the tenor saxophonist was 72 years old. Recorded two years later, his follow-up, Jamaica by Night (1994; live from the St. Lucia Jazz Festival), includes Jean Toussaint (tenor sax), Graeme Hamilton (trumpet), Bernardo Sassetti & Sam Brown (piano), Chris Lamptey (guitar), Wayne Batchelor (bass), Winston Clifford (drums), and Carlos Valdes (congas, percussion). ~ John Bush
