Lauren Spencer Smith Essentials

Thanks to her catchy, heartfelt songs that meticulously describe the ups and downs of heartbreak, Lauren Spencer Smith has become one of the breakout singer-songwriters of the early 2020s. Born in 2003 in Portsmouth but raised in Canada, Spencer Smith first broke out on YouTube and later appeared on the 2020 season of American Idol, making it to the final 20. In 2022, she released the delicate breakup song “Fingers Crossed” online, and it became a massive viral hit, eventually reaching the Hot 100’s Top 20. She soon signed a deal with Republic Records and released “Flowers”, which detailed the pain conjured up by remembering past toxic relationships. Spencer Smith’s debut album, Mirror, which showcases the full spectrum of her songwriting and features “Fantasy” (a collab with fellow early-2020s sensations GAYLE and Em Beihold), came out in the summer of 2023.
