Fats Domino Essentials

Fats Domino Essentials

As a young pianist coming up in the New Orleans jazz scene, Fats Domino quickly became skillful enough to launch a respectable career in a big band, but that just wasn't his style. Instead, Domino followed his love of showmanship and perfected his driving blues piano sound while recording a string of stomping dance records and bawdy ballads. Labels called them R&B records, but listening to them with a modern ear, it's clear that Domino was presaging rock 'n' roll. By the mid-'50s, his rollicking rhythmic tunes were fitting right in.
