Augustus Pablo Essentials

Augustus Pablo Essentials

Jamaican producer Augustus Pablo was perhaps the first melodica virtuoso, using the unique instrument to add a mysterious and melancholic vibe to his classic dub tracks. Debuting in the early '70s, he made his name with a series of classic instrumental albums at a time when reggae was dominated by passionate roots singers. Collaborating with studio wizards like King Tubby and Keith Hudson, Pablo laid down hypnotic grooves that he filled with exotic melodies, an evocative style he called the "Far East" sound, and he continued recording essential dubs until his death in '99.
