In the early aughts, Amerie chiselled her name into the pop&B landscape with a lilting but authoritative voice. Born in Massachusetts and raised in multiple locations around the world, Amerie is equally drawn to creating uptempo club anthems and heartfelt ballads. Her summery, breakthrough 2002 single, “Why Don’t We Fall In Love”, spoke to the romantic impatience that comes with encountering a partner with potential. She would continue weaving that theme of temptation on the fiery single “1 Thing”, from 2005’s Touch, and the vulnerable “Curious”, from 2018’s 4AM Mulholland.
