Shanachie Entertainment

About

Shanachie Entertainment was born in the Bronx in 1976 and has released projects of legends, hitmakers, musical masters, and cult icons in the realms of R&B, jazz, alternative, reggae, blues, country, singer-songwriters, and more. Born in 1976 as an Irish music label, Shanachie soon boasted one of the world's great catalogs of Irish music. In 1980, the company released its first reggae album and was quickly riding the wave of interest in reggae by releasing acclaimed albums by top reggae artists. Soon after, Shanachie became a pioneer of world music and then quickly began expanding into other genres—blues, jazz, singer-songwriters, R&B, gospel, groove, and alternative music—scoring hits at urban, gospel, and jazz radio. Today Shanachie continues to flourish in its fifth decade of success, bringing a unique combination of musical quality, marketing, and promotion expertise and personal attention to an ever-growing roster of special artists. Currently, contemporary jazz is a label priority, with unprecedented acclaim and Top 10 chart numbers for such performers as Kim Waters, Euge Groove, Brian Simpson, Streetwize, Richard Elliot, Rick Braun, Vincent Ingala, Lindsey Webster, Chris “Big Dog” Davis, Jazz In Pink, Blue, and many more. Of particular note is up-and-coming do-it-all jazz musician and performer Justin Lee Schultz. In the R&B realm, Shanachie remains active with charting records from Calvin Richardson, Rahsaan Patterson, and Hil St. Soul, while gospel artists such as Isaac Carree and the Rev. Luther Barnes now call Shanachie home. (From the label)
