Madina to the Universe: The E.P.ilogue

Madina to the Universe: The E.P.ilogue

When Ghanaian rapper M.anifest released his album Madina to the Universe in 2021, the project lent a free invitation to his world spelling, out his listless ambitions and documenting his different realities, from his past struggles to his surging desire for more achievements. Though it’s wrapped in introspection, the album shows flickers of M.anifest brilliance as a rapper, with his instinct for rhymes, diaristic storytelling and self-confidence all elevating the album. On the sequel to that project, Madina to the Universe: The E.P.ilogue, M.anifest’s self-confidence is ever-present as he delves into the aftereffects of fame. Coasting on airy synths and muffled drums, he calmly breaks down his now-rowdy daily schedule filled with joining virtual calls and filling spreadsheets on “GPS”, and M.I Abaga adds some zest to “Too Bad”, where both rappers flex quickfire bars about their legacy. Brimming with sincerity, M.anifest seasons these tracks with compelling imagery, his carefree verses beautified with references to scenes and events. When the project comes to a close on the wavypae collab, “Times Square”, the mood is solemn as M.anifest sheds off his braggodocio, announcing his unaccomplished dreams.
