After spending nearly a decade with Simpson, Miller launched his solo career with 2023's Solid Gold, a Simpson-produced record that illustrated how he brought a roots touch to the mellow sounds of the late '70s. The album maintained a sweet, warm vibe as Miller balanced sensitive ballads with laid-back grooves, a distinctive blend within early-2020s Americana.
