About Estrons

Welsh alternative pop outfit Estrons create raucous, melody-laden punk rock with a defiant attitude and lyrics concerning heartbreak, sexual dominance, and anxiety. Their sound and style are most notably delivered on records such as the 2012 EP Whoever She Was and the 2018 album You Say I'm Too Much, I Say You're Not Enough. The band was formed by frontwoman/vocalist Taliesyn Källström and guitarist Rhodri Daniel soon after they met on a beach in Aberstwyth in 2012. Coming up with the name Estrons (Welsh for "misfit" or "alien"), the duo got to work writing and recording ideas with a revolving door of musicians to take the material live the following year. They spent the next two years fine-tuning their ideas for their first official release. They put out their debut EP, Whoever She Was, via Gofod Records in 2015. Whoever She Was featured the single "Make a Man," which drew attention for its nonconformist lyrics and abrasive yet accessible sound akin to acts such as the Joy Formidable and Hole. Estrons returned in 2016 with the 7" single "Drop" and embarked on a nationwide tour before putting out a further two EPs, the self-titled Estrons and She's Here Now in 2017. The following year saw the release of their first full-length, You Say I'm Too Much, I Say You're Not Enough via Gofod. The LP was produced and engineered by Alex Newport (Bloc Party, City & Colour), and was led by the single "Cameras." The band disbanded in early 2019. ~ Rob Wacey
