About Christine Andreas

Acclaimed Broadway performer Christine Andreasbegan her stage career playing Eliza Doolittle in a production of My Fair Lady, which proved to be an award-winning debut. In 1979, she netted her first Tony Award nomination for her performance in Oklahoma, a feat that she duplicated four years later when she was nominated for her role in On Your Toes. Throughout the year, Andreas would also have a presence on television, as well, appearing on various soap operas and even an episode of The Cosby Show. She made her cabaret debut in 1989 and sang for the President of the United States in 1992. Her solo musical recording debut came in late 1997 with the release of Love Is Good, a collection of known songs from musicals and the world of pop music, as well as some originals co-written by Andreas and collaborator Joel Higgins (with whom she sings duets on a couple tracks). More theater work kept her busy for the next few years, but in 2002 she released a tribute to her favorite female performers entitled Here's to the Ladies, which offered renditions of songs made famous by Julie Andrews, Angela Lansbury, and many others. ~ Tom Demalon
