Skik Essentials

Known for their use of the unique, Low Saxon Drèents dialect, the Dutch group Skik have carved a niche for their brand of earthy folk-pop. The band burst onto the European scene in the ‘90s with their album Niks Is Zoas ‘t Lek (Nothing is the Way It Seems), which spawned a string of lush, mellow hits. Though the band may have caught early listeners' attention with an unfamiliar language, it's easy to appreciate their rootsy vibes and catchy melodies—tunes like “Af & Toe” and “‘t Giet Zoas 't Giet” are purely fun folk.
