Vern Gosdin Essentials

Vern Gosdin Essentials

Known in country circles as "The Voice" for his exuberant and emotional delivery, Vern Gosdin rode the neo-traditionalist movement of the ‘80s to stardom with a brace of Top 5 honky-tonk hits. Like many country artists, the Alabama native sang gospel as a boy and moved successfully into country-rock in the ‘60s. After a lengthy fallow period, he logged numerous hits in the early ‘80s with songs about wayward romance that drew comparison to George Jones. Gosdin remained a U.S. chart success until the late ‘80s, when the rise of rock-driven country pushed aside bittersweet balladeers of his ilk.
