Kyuss Essentials

Kyuss Essentials

Influenced by equal parts Black Flag and Black Sabbath, Kyuss formed in 1987 in Palm Desert, California. Their dry take on hard rock quickly won them a loyal following and they were signed to Elektra after independently releasing two acclaimed albums. They played heavy, groove-based songs with slow but aggressive tempos, priming the music scene for the stoner rock craze of the ‘90s. Kyuss released two albums with Elektra before breaking up in 1995. Homme went on to form Queens of the Stone Age. Past members of Kyuss play with a new guitarist and singer under the name Vista Chino.
