Regional reality show Malaysian Idol stole Jaclyn Victor away from smoky clubs and put her on a stage in front of a national audience. Her eventual victory in the singing competition catapulted the soulful singer into the mainstream. The album Gemilang was an instant success upon its release and Victor went on to receive the Best New Artist title at the Anugerah Bintang Popular. Although she's found success on the mainstream airwaves, Victor still pays homage to her live club background with her soaring, adult contemporary sound.
