The duo CHEMISTRY, featuring Kaname Kawabata and Yoshikuni Dochin, won the Tokyo TV music audition show ASAYAN in 2000. ∙ Their debut album, 2001’s The Way We Are, sold 3 million copies, boosted by their No. 1 single “Pieces of a Dream.” ∙ CHEMISTRY participated in the 2002 FIFA World Cup anthem “Let’s Get Together Now” as part of the supergroup Voices of Korea/Japan. ∙ Their songs have appeared in the anime series Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, and Antique Bakery. ∙ Kawabata and Dochin pursued solo careers in 2012, before announcing CHEMISTRY’s re-formation in 2016.
