Keyboardist/pianist/composer Boko Suzuki started his career in the mid-'80s, playing with guitarist Joey Goldstein in the Toronto area, as well as Norwegian trombonist/composer Jens Wendelboe. In 1992, he appeared on the self-titled album by the David Blamires Group, and attracted notice in Jazz Report. However, he hit his stride on the Toronto theatrical scene, composing, performing, and sometimes directing music for numerous plays. He branched out to many other theaters around Canada, and conducted several well-known Broadway musicals, as well as the Toronto Symphony Orchestra in a guest appearance. In 1998, he released his own solo album, Elton John: A Piano Tribute. After the turn of the millennium, Suzuki became the musical director of the American national touring company of Rent. ~ Steve Huey
