The Strokes may have resurrected rock back in 2001, having been given credit for reviving both garage rock and post-punk, but Manhattan’s coolest band keeps managing to redefine it. They take their signature sharp riffs and stinging sarcasm through shimmering fields of New Wave, hazy clouds of pop melody and even straight into the disco—all while keeping the essence of rock alive and kicking.
