Fit for An Autopsy Essentials

The award for deathcore’s most misanthropic band definitely goes to Fit for An Autopsy. Since dropping their debut album, 2011’s The Process of Human Extermination, the New Jersey outfit have unleashed an especially virulent brand of deathcore in which antisocial themes are tethered to guitars tuned so low they rumble like tanks and a rhythm section that alternates between chugging grooves and violent tantrums. Breakdowns are everywhere—this is deathcore, after all—but as 2019’s The Sea of Tragic Beasts proves, Fit for An Autopsy have expanded the genre’s parameters thanks to their use of bleak atmospheres and epic melodies.
