El Columpio Asesino Essentials

El Columpio Asesino Essentials

The name translates to The Assassin Swing, and that says a lot: This Pamplona fivesome pair killer fuzz-encrusted riffage with a dance floor-friendly pulse. After developing their sound across a trio of punky, noisy, groove-steeped LPs, El Columpio Asesino came into their own with 2011's aptly named Diamantes. Stuffed with strident guitars and humming electronics, that set earned their rep as retro-gothic trailblazers. The punchy, Pixies-leaning Ballenas Muertas en San Sebastián followed, giving the Latin rock milieu an extra dose of '60s mod and New Wave cool.
