Commercial powerhouses in the '70s, Canada's Bachman-Turner Overdrive weren't necessarily innovators, but they weren't interested in changing the face of music. All they wanted to do was boogie, and boogie hard. After starting off with a mellower sound, they quickly realised their future lay in loud guitars. Heavy blues bands were a dime a dozen at the time, and B.T.O. were smart enough to cut the sprawling boogie sound down to tight pop singles. They were masters of unforgettable choruses, and their solos were concise, memorable and every bit as thrilling as the riffs.
