About Thomas Wander

Having forged a partnership with fellow Austrian composer Harald Kloser, Thomas Wander is jointly responsible for scoring some of the biggest blockbusters of the 2000s. Born Thomas Wanker in Graz in 1973, he studied music from a young age and after traveling to Los Angeles in 1992 to study with the likes of Jerry Goldsmith and David Raksin at the University of Southern California, he went on to compose soundtracks for various TV productions including Hostile Takeover, Sins of the Father, and Dracula, in addition to over 40 episodes of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Alongside Kloser, he began a successful working relationship with director Roland Emmerich in 2002 on The Day After Tomorrow, leading to further collaborations together on 2008's 10,000 BC, 2010's 2012, and 2011's Anonymous; the first two won him the BFI Film Music Award. ~ Jon O'Brien
