About Fanica Luca
A master of the pan flute, Fanica Luca is best remembered as the teacher of such stellar pan flute players as Gheorghe Zamfir and Nicholae Pirvu. Luca was one of the few pan flute players between 1920 and 1940 to attract international attention. Appearing at an international exhibition in the United States in 1939, he performed at a similar exhibition in France three years later. With the support of the Institute of Folklore Research in Bucharest, Luca began teaching the pan flute in 1949. He moved the class to the prestigious Music Lyceum in 1953. ~ Craig Harris
