About A. G. Cook
The head of the influential collective PC Music, A. G. Cook is one of the leaders of the 2010s' hyperpop movement, and his visionary outlook has resulted in him being one of the architects of modern sounds. Born Alexander Guy Cook in London in 1990, Cook studied music at Goldsmiths, where he rekindled a creative relationship with school friend Danny L Harle. The pair's first project was the duo Dux Content, which eventually garnered the notice of the producer SOPHIE. Cook founded PC Music in 2013 with a nod to dance pop and a wink to consumerism and released its first single, the Hannah Diamond showcase “Keri Baby”, in early 2014. “Hey QT”, an irony-drenched energy-drink jingle, arrived that summer and landed PC Music on the map of pop tastemakers. One of those people was pop futurist Charli XCX, who invited Cook to remix her Rita Ora collaboration “Doing It”. PC Music continued to release singles, and in 2017 Charli XCX put out Number 1 Angel, a mixtape with heavy involvement from Cook and the PC Music crew. Cook went on to produce subsequent albums for Charli, including 2019’s Charli; he also issued two albums of his own, 7G and Apple, in 2020, and followed those up with the 2021 remix album Apple vs. 7G.
