Yes Essentials

Prog rockers Yes have used their masterful musicianship to constantly evolve since 1968. Complete with Jon Anderson's mystical lyrics and gravity-defying vocal style, their '70s albums suggested worlds as trippy as the cover artwork; multi-part epics like the eight-and-a-half-minute “Roundabout” flowed around flamenco-inspired picking, burbling bass and whirling synthesisers. By 1983, they were embracing new technology, typified by the gleam and grunt of “Owner of a Lonely Heart”, which bristled with gated drum cracks and slabs of metallic guitar.
