Rocío Dúrcal was born in Spain, but a lot of folk would swear she had a Mexican heart. She was one of the best-selling Latin singers of all time—and a talented actress, to boot—and she forged a close relationship with Mexican singer-songwriter Juan Gabriel, who fed her some of her best material over the course of ten albums. Nobody delivered a ranchera like her, but she didn't let her pop side languish, working with heavyweights like Marco Antonio Solís, Rafael Pérez-Botija and Roberto Livi. Sadly, the diva passed away in '06 following a five-year battle with cancer.
