Neha Bhasin switches languages as easily as she changes musical styles. Formerly of pop group Viva, she is a successful Hindi, Telugu and Tamil playback singer as well as an independent artist known for popularising Punjabi folk tracks. Vocally, Bhasin stays true to tradition when reinterpreting the standards, even as she and partner-producer Sameer Uddin play with the instrumental backing of “Akh Kashni” and “Sasse Ladeya Na Kar”. Original tracks such as “Tu Ki Jaane” have a similarly vintage vibe. They’re all delivered with an emotional heft reflective of someone who has known these tunes her whole life.
