About Joe McClour

In the artist’s words: Describe one of your earliest musical memories in detail. I know he's highly problematic and has fallen out of fashion, but when I first heard Jerry Lee Lewis sing "Great Balls of Fire," I went nuts. I was, maybe, 10 years old or so. The spirit and abandon really moved me. What are your top 3 all-time favorite albums on Apple Music, and why? Why did you choose these three albums in particular? Jason Isbell, Southeastern The Beatles, Let It Be (2021 Mix) The Format, Interventions and Lullabies A good song is a good song. I don't care who sings it or where they're from. These albums each made a big impression on me at a different point in my life. How do I know they're good? They've got staying power, something not every record has. Find a song of yours on Apple Music that you love and tell us what makes it special. Tell us why you chose this song. “Bloodline” This song sounds like a typical, catchy Americana track. When you really dig into the lyrics, though, you find so much going on. It's about nature vs. nurture. Am I what my DNA says I am? Or can I choose to be something different, something better? What’s one of the most memorable moments in your career so far? I played a saloon in Deep Ellum in Dallas, Texas, with my last band. The stage was barely big enough to hold all four of us. The sound system was practically non-existent. We tore it up, though, and had one of the best shows of our career. Is there anything left on your bucket list as an artist or band? There are two things I've never done that would mean the world to me: play the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville and record at Sun Studio in Memphis. These places represent the beginnings of the country and rock genres that I admire.
