About Jacky Ward

b. 18 November 1946, Grovetown, Texas, USA. Playing guitar and singing, Ward gained some popularity in the late 70s in Nashville, Tennessee. For a spell he was teamed with another newcomer, Reba McEntire, appearing on some of her early hits, including ‘I’d Really Love To See You Tonight’, a song he also recorded solo. He recorded mainly for Mercury Records, with notable songs including ‘Nobody’s Perfect’, ‘I Never Said It Would Be Easy’, ‘I Can’t Stand The Pain’, ‘Stealin’’, ‘Texas Angel’, ‘She Belongs To Me’, ‘A Lover’s Question’, ‘From Me To You’, ‘Rhythm Of The Rain’, and ‘That Makes Two Of Us’. Best known of Ward’s recordings is ‘Big Blue Diamonds’, with which he had a moderate success in 1972. This was backed by ‘Fools Fall In Love’ on its original release and he re-recorded it a little later. The song has been recorded many times by numerous artists although Ward’s version remains notable.
