About Candice Alley

Signed to the big time while still in her teens, singer/songwriter Candice Alley -- born Candice Marie Giannarelli in Melbourne, Australia on June 23, 1983 -- became a popular artist and musician even in the face of music business rigmarole. Her first single, "Falling," released in 2003, was originally penned by Alley as a teenager, and was the focal point of the demo she sent to local indie labels in hopes of a deal. Instead of an indie picking her up, industry major Universal snatched the youngster up, and recorded and released an official version of the single, which became a hit in her home country as well as getting Alley nominations for Breakthrough Artist and Most Performed Single. Although her debut album was not far behind -- Colorblind was released in October of 2003 -- falling sales and lack of label promotion caused a rift, and by 2004 Alley moved out from under Universal's umbrella and looked for more supportive pastures. In 2005, she got her initial wish and signed with independent label International Quarterback, and in January of 2007, Alley's new single, "Before You Go," was in stores. The song would eventually become a Top 20 hit, and later that year, Alley released her follow-up album, Candice Alley. ~ Chris True
