The Jayhawks Essentials

The Jayhawks Essentials

Debuting in the mid-‘80s, The Jayhawks figured prominently in the alt-country revolution, mating a Byrds/Flying Burrito Brothers influence with Beatlesque pop songcraft. Fronted by two potent singer/songwriters, Mark Olson and Gary Louris, the Minneapolis band boasted some of the most distinctive vocal harmonies on the country rock scene. In the mid-‘90s, The Jayhawks' sound edged slightly away from twang while remaining tunefully trenchant, but the ‘10s brought a return to the ringing, rootsy vibe that first made their name.
