After building their name with a series of rambunctious live shows on the Cardiff student union circuit in the mid-'00s, Los Campesinos! caught the attention of the Canadian indie rockers Broken Social Scene who made them a part of the Arts & Crafts family and brought their amped-up twee pop to a wider audience. 2008's Hold on Now, Youngster… was an instant hit with critics and indie fans alike and the group have since tackled darker topics like death—and more whimsical ones like Christmas—in their own hearts-on-their-sleeves fashion.
