Little Tony Essentials

Antonio Ciacci was inspired by Little Richard. In fact, he named himself after the legend. But Little Tony’s brand of rock ’n’ roll was decidedly European. The Sammarinese crooner was a smash hit in the late ’50s and ’60s with American-inspired rock cuts. Yet as his career progressed over six decades—until his death in 2013—he turned his hand to a wide variety of styles. Between 1966’s orchestral pop-waltz “Riderà”, 1974’s trumpet-driven swing “Bada bambina” and his vocals on 2004’s Gabry Ponte dance cover “Figli di Pitagora”, Little Tony left behind an excitingly eclectic musical legacy.
