City and Colour Essentials

Rather than using his own name for his solo project, singer/songwriter Dallas Green went for the appropriately descriptive moniker of City and Colour. Far from the sound and the fury of his other band, Alexisonfire, Green laid down a folk-influenced sound that resonated with a wide audience. His first album, the confessional Sometimes, went platinum and was named Alternative Album of the Year at the Junos—and Green's success hasn't waned since. By his third album, Little Hell, he expanded his acoustic sound to include electric guitars and synths, an approach he also used on the follow up The Hurry and the Harm.
