Archie Shepp: The Session Musicians

Saxophonist Archie Shepp has worked with some of jazz's most important innovators since the early ‘60s. He was a crucial sideman to the brilliant pianist Cecil Taylor on “Air”, and John Coltrane's advocacy of his talent led to an appearance on sessions for “A Love Supreme”. He's co-led dates with a wide array of peers, including drummer Max Roach on a version of Coltrane's “Giant Steps” or trumpeter Chet Baker on Charlie Parker's “Confirmation”.
