About Split Beaver
This heavy metal quartet was formed in Wolverhampton, England, during 1982 by Darrel Whitehouse (vocals), Mike Hoppet (guitar), Alan Rees (bass) and Mick Dunn (drums). They signed to the local Heavy Metal Records label the same year. The band specialized in plodding and clichéd British rock, influenced by Deep Purple and Thin Lizzy but with neither the wit nor technique. They debuted with When Hell Won’t Have You, a pedestrian and disappointing collection of up-tempo rockers, after which they split up. It seems Hades was not the only place unwilling to entertain Split Beaver.
