About Ricky Dillon

Singer and YouTube personality Ricky Dillon makes electronic-based, dance-oriented pop music. Born in North Carolina in 1992, Dillon grew up in Hoover, Alabama, where he played trumpet in the marching and concert bands during high school. After studying film for two years at Auburn University, Dillon dropped out to turn his focus toward appearing in front of the camera. Joining YouTube in 2010, Dillon began uploading a variety of videos including lip-syncs, comedic sketches, and challenges. The videos quickly garnered a large following, and by 2012 he had co-founded the six-member collaborative YouTube channel Our2ndLife along with vloggers Jc Caylen, Connor Franta, Kian Lawley, Sam Pottorff, and Trevor Moran. In 2013 Dillon relocated to Los Angeles, where he moved into a house with Caylen and Lawley. Having always been interested in music, Dillon increasingly turned his attention to a recording career, and in April of 2014 he released the single "Ordinary" online. In 2015 Dillon returned with his debut EP, RPD, which featured the singles "Ignite" and "Thunder and Lightning." With guests including Moran and none other than Snoop Dogg, who was featured on the song "Problematic," his first full-length, Gold, followed in 2016. It hit the Top Ten of Billboard's independent albums chart. ~ Matt Collar
