C.R.O.W.

This US blues rock group were formed in the mid-60s in the Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota area. Crow were originally called South 40 and released one album, Live At The Someplace Else under that name. In early 1968 the group won a contest and as a prize was signed to Columbia Records. The members at that time were brothers Dick and Larry Weigand on guitar and bass, respectively, Dave Wagner (vocals), and Kink Middlemist (keyboards). The band recorded several original songs, after which drummer Denny Craswell, formerly a member of the Castaways, was brought into the group. A first single on Amaret Records failed to chart, but the second, ‘Evil Woman Don’t You Play Your Games With Me’, issued with an overdubbed horn section against the band’s wishes, ultimately reached the US Top 20. Two other singles charted, as did two albums, but the group did not regain its initial success and disbanded in the early 70s. David Wagner released one solo album in 1972.
