About Asees Kaur
With a foundation in the sacred Sikh texts of the shabads she sang as a child, Asees Kaur takes this profound connection to music into the modern age. • As a child, Kaur was often encouraged to sing traditional Gurbani songs by her father—something that she particularly excelled at and which helped her form a strong, spiritual connection to music. • Inspired by the likes of the “Queen of Melody” Noor Jehan, the young singer appeared on TV talent show Awaz Punjab Di before moving to Mumbai to take on Bollywood, making her playback singing debut in 2014 with “Dildara Reprise” on Tamanchey. • The performer’s momentum picked up in 2018 with a string of hits such as “Akh Lad Jaave” (Loveyatri) and “Tere Bin” (Simmba). • Having worked with many of Bollywood’s most established music directors, the singer has also delved into Indipop, such as with the sleek bop “Disco Balma”.
